Maine resident drives a 1990 Honda Accord past the one million mile mark

Joe LoCicero of Norway, Maine, recently accomplished a feat that very few drivers ever manage. He drove his 1990 Honda Accord one million miles, earning himself the nickname "Million Mile Joe." A Honda spokesperson told The Portland Press Herald that he is the first ever to do it with one of their vehicles.

In honor of his momentous achievement, the township threw a parade in LoCicero's honor, and he was even given a brand new 2012 Accord to replace his 20-year-old light blue car, which was affectionately called "True Blue."

Torque News reports that LoCicero was able to drive as far and as long as he did in the old car because he took extremely good care of it, getting regular maintenance and repairing any problems that cropped up. He has had to replace his radiator twice, and when the fuel pump blew at 741,000 miles, his kids laughed that the car finally broke down to the point of needing a tow.

Drivers who want their vehicles to last as long as Million Mile Joe's Honda should invest in car warranties that can cover the cost of maintenance and repairs so their vehicles can stay up and running without gouging their wallets.
