Here are top 10 fuel-efficient cars that have made it into our list.

1. Audi A4 Ultra

2. 2019 Honda Fit

With a rating 36 miles per gallon, the 2019 Honda Fit features excellent fuel economy without necessarily sacrificing on practicality. The vehicle still maintains its impressive driving experience but comes with an addition they call the “Magic Seat,” whereby the seats fold to free up cargo space.

3. Mazda CX-3

Boasting an attractive styling, a well-tuned chassis, and a fuel-efficient engine, this is one car that you’ll love to own. It has an EPA-rated fuel economy of only 31 miles per gallon, which is impressive for an SUV.

4. 2019 Toyota Prius Hatchback

If you think of hybrid, what most probably comes to your mind is the Toyota Prius Hatchback. The latest Prius won’t dent your pocket because it’s extremely fuel efficient, with a consumption rating of 54 miles per gallon.

8. Hyundai Loniq Hybrid

Some may argue that the Hyundai Loniq Hybrid’s design and performance was inspired by the Prius Hatchback, but what’s important is that it achieved the expected goal of being fuel efficient and reduce CO2 emission.  It has an EPA rating of 66 miles per gallon, which is quite a bargain compared to other Hyundai models.

9. Fiat 124 Spider

If you are into sports cars and want one that sips fuel, the Fiat 124 Spider is a great option. With an EPA rating of 30 miles per gallon, this sports car comes with some Italian flair and an optional six-speed auto.

10. Dacia Sandero Hatchback

This vehicle has an extremely low running cost, achieving a consumption rating of 54.3 miles per gallon. This isn’t bad for a car that runs on petrol and costs less than $10,000.

There you have it! Ten fuel-efficient cars of 2019 that promise to save your gas cost without necessarily sacrificing on performance.

Why Purchasing an Extended Warranty from True Auto Makes Financial Sense

on

Screen Shot 2019-01-28 at 2.02.04 PM

For many people, the purchase of a motor vehicle is one of the most expensive investments they will ever make.  With that in mind, it pays to take whatever steps are necessary to protect that investment and make sure it provides a reasonable amount of returns.  This is where the concept of an extended auto warranty comes into play.

The Basic Idea Behind the Warranty

Since all new and most pre-owned vehicles that have been restored to factory standards come with a standard warranty, it is not unusual for consumers to question the wisdom of paying extra for an extended auto warranty.  The thing to remember is that this type of warranty picks up where the basic warranty leaves off.  As the provisions within the basic plan expire, our extended plan will continue for a longer period of time.

Why is the Extra Time So Important?

Basic warranties do cover a reasonable range of services and support, but there are limits in terms of time and total mileage on the vehicle.  The fact is that many motorists exceed the allotted mileage long before reaching the time limit. For people who use their vehicles extensively, it is possible to reach that mileage limit in less than half of the time frame.  At that point, the basic warranty is basically no longer in effect.

Since the extended warranty ensures that those benefits continue for longer than that initial time or mileage limit, the owner can retain coverage for more years.  The result is that if a component covered under the warranty terms breaks down due to a manufacturing defect three months after the basic warranty has expired, the part can still be replaced at little to no charge under the provisions found in the extended auto warranty.

What About the Expense?

Whether the extended warranty is purchased from the auto manufacturer or from a third party provider, there will be some expense involved with the transaction.  One way to keep that cost in perspective is to consider it a form of preventive maintenance for the vehicle.  While the hope is that there will never be any reason to invoke one of the clauses in the warranty plan, it is nice to know that there is coverage in place if it is needed.  That peace of mind will easily justify the expense of securing and maintaining the extended warranty.

Even if one covered event does take place, chances are that all the money paid toward the extended auto warranty will still be less than that one event.  This is true even if that event takes place several years after the purchase of the vehicle and the expiration of the basic warranty.  For people who tend to drive their cars for the better part of a decade before trading them in, having that extra coverage in place makes a lot of sense.

The bottom line is that securing an extended auto warranty with True Auto is the way to go. With our warranties in place, it is easier to relax, enjoy the ride, and know that help is there if any serious problem should arise.

Preventative Vehicle Maintenance That Will Save You Money - New Year, New Ways to Save

on

Screen Shot 2019-01-07 at 2.54.18 PM

Do you have a new year’s resolution to save more money this year? Well, start with your car. A vehicle is only as good as it is maintained. The best designed cars can falter without proper servicing and checkups. Simply waiting for something to go wrong on the vehicle is a recipe for expensive auto repairs. To avoid this, performing some general preventative car services not only extends the life of the vehicle but it helps cut down on expensive replacement parts. Here are a few preventative vehicle maintenance tips that will save any car owner both time and money:

Engine and Transmission

The engine and transmission are essentially the heart and brain of the vehicle. If one fails, it not only causes significant damage to the vehicle, but these areas are some of the most expensive to repair and replace when either goes bad. Due to this, proper engine and transmission maintenance is a must. This starts with changing the oil when recommended. At this time, all other fluids can be checked and filled. Plus, serpentine and timing belts can be inspected and serviced as well. A coolant flush may be necessary to rid the engine of old and corroded coolant while filling up the power steering fluid keeps the vehicle turning properly. Should a driver feel their vehicle fighting them during snow speed turns, it likely means the steering fluid is low. A new spark plug can boost engine efficiency and safe on fuel economy as well. All of these areas of the vehicle can be looked over and inspected in one short visit to the auto shop, so having the car looked over during a standard oil change can help avoid more expensive repairs later on.

Wheels and Brakes

Replacing brake pads is a must. Should the brake wear down to nothing, it may require additional repairs, including new tie rods. When new brakes are installed, having the tires rotated can help ensure universal wear on the tires, which in turn improves handling and driving performance (while also extending the life of the tires). Tires should be replaced on a regular basis as well. An easy way for any driver to know if it is time to replace their tires is to pull out a quarter and slide it into the tire tread. If the top of Washington's head can still be seen, the tread is too low and needs to be replaced.

Alignment problems should be addressed at this time as well. If the vehicle is turning to one side or the other instead of pointing strait (where the steering wheel is pulling to one side) it means the alignment is off and it needs to be straightened and corrected.

Christmas Gifts You Can Give Your Car

on

Christmas Gifts You Can Give Your Car This Year copyIf you treat your car well, it will treat you well too. Be good to it, and it can run smoothly and faithfully for many years. One of the best ways to be good to your car is to give it the things it needs. And what better time to do that than the holidays? It’s the season of giving! Here are a few Christmas gifts you can give your car, to keep it in top condition.

  • A Carwash: A good wash and wax will help your car look like new. But washing does even more than that. Getting rid of dirt and grime helps prevent corrosion and rust. So, give your car a bath this Christmas, and resolve to continue doing it regularly going forward.
  • New Tires: Your tires play a huge part in how your car runs, and how long it runs. They affect your suspension, your fuel efficiency, and much more. Good treads give you a better grip on the road, helping you drive better and lowering the risk of accidents. Assuming you drive your car regularly, tires should be replaced every three to four years. If you only drive it sparingly, the disuse can actually cause cracks in the rubber, requiring replacement more often than that. Either way, if it's been some time since you replaced your tires, a new set would be one of the best gifts you can give your car this year.
  • A Tune-Up: Every so often, you need to have a professional give your car a thorough going over and make sure it's running as it should. If the car has difficulty starting, or has begun stalling frequently, those are signs that a tune-up is needed. Your mechanic will do things like check the battery, tire pressure, ignition timing, and more. If you have an older car, without an electronic ignition, you should have your car serviced every year or so. Newer cars can go longer - anywhere from 25,000 to 100,000 miles - without a tune-up. Check the manual or look online to see how often the manufacturer recommends your car be serviced.
  • An Extended Vehicle Warranty: No matter how good you are to your car, sometimes it will simply break down. And repairs can be expensive. That's why one of the best gifts for your car is vehicle breakdown insurance, also called an extended warranty. Under the extended warranty, when certain important parts of your car break down, you can have them replaced quickly and easily, without running up a lot of costly mechanic bills. It lowers your car's overall cost of ownership while also helping it last longer. Vehicle breakdown insurance is a good investment for anyone who cares about the future of their car.

When you give your car these kinds of gifts, your car will give you a gift in return: a long, healthy life, running smoothly and getting you where you need to go for years to come. So, what will you give your car for Christmas this year?

How to Maintain the Integrity and Value of Your Vehicle

on

Screen Shot 2018-10-22 at 12.38.44 PM

Making the decision to purchase a vehicle typically takes time, rigorous research, and a lot of thought. While some folks know for certain which auto manufacturer they will choose or whether they are looking to invest in a truck, SUV, or car for their next vehicle, others are simply looking for a nice, dependable ride that will get them from point A to point B -- and back again. Being able to count on your vehicle to withstand the long road trips, the stop and go of city driving, and the twists and turns of those back-country roads throughout all the seasons of each year is perhaps the most important factor when choosing a vehicle. It’s not by happenstance, however, that some vehicles seem to maintain their integrity for years after being purchased, while others seem to show their wear and tear in no time at all. Sustaining the value of your vehicle can easily be done. Here are three ways to accomplish this:

Schedule Routine Maintenance Checks.

Whether you return to the dealership where you first bought your vehicle, or you prefer to go to your neighborhood service shop, making (and keeping) those routine maintenance appointments is integral to keeping your car roadworthy. These mini check-ups enable the certified technician to not only change your oil and rotate your tires, but also perform a check of hoses, belts, and various systems in your vehicle that may be showing signs of wear. Catching a potential issue in its very early stages will save you from a lot of unnecessary stress and expense.

Be Attentive!

Listen to your vehicle. If you hear the brakes making a strange noise or the engine just doesn’t sound quite right, cranking the volume on your stereo won’t make the source of that sound disappear. Look at your vehicle. If it seems like it is pulling to one side when you drive, or lights are shining brightly on your dashboard (indicating something needs your immediate attention), take it in to be serviced.

Purchase an Auto Warranty.

Of everything you can do to maintain your vehicle, perhaps the best decision you can make is to purchase auto warranty.  No matter how attentive and proactive you strive to be in taking care of your vehicle, sometimes mechanical issues arise that you have no control over. An auto warranty enables you to rest assured knowing that should a new problem suddenly appear in your vehicle, you’ll be covered, and you won’t have to worry about how you are going to pay for the repair. While an auto warranty does not need to be purchased the same day you buy your vehicle (in fact, you can get an auto warranty years after you purchased your vehicle), the auto warranty will typically cover only new issues and not pre-existing problems. So, it makes sense to be truly proactive in taking care of your vehicle and getting auto warranty for it before you need it!

How to Prepare your Car for Chilly Weather

on

Screen Shot 2018-10-17 at 1.49.23 PM

Getting Your Car Prepped for Winter Chills

As the weather gets colder this winter, there are a few steps that you'll need to take to ensure that your car runs perfectly come rain, snow, or sleet. Automobiles simply run differently when it's cold outside, and here are four of the things you should do to prepare your vehicle for whatever the winter may bring.

1. Test Your Battery

If your battery is going to give out, it will usually kick the bucket as soon as winter chills start creeping in. The colder it gets, the lower your battery capacity goes, which means that your battery may suddenly stop having enough juice to start your car one winter morning after a cold snap. The older your battery is, the more likely that it will fail, and replacing your car's battery before the beginning of winter is one way that you can hedge against the power-sucking effects of freezing weather. However, you can also take steps to keep your battery warm throughout the winter. For instance, you can park your car in the garage, or you can use a heated battery blanketto make sure that your battery stays warm overnight.

2. Check for Windshield Cracks

If there are any cracks in your vehicle's windshield, these cracks will likely only get worse as the weather gets colder.Freezing temperatures make glass more brittle, and the difference in temperature between the inside and outside of your car can be the final nail in the coffin of failing auto glass. This precaution applies to any other glass in your car; if you've been putting off replacing a cracked back windscreen or one of your windows, you should take care of that task before the winter's first freezing night. For good measure, you should also make sure that your car is equipped with subzero-capable windshield washing fluid, and you should also replace your wiper blades before winter hits in full force.

3. Make Sure Your Defroster Works

You never know the value of your defroster until it stops working. The most common cause of a faulty defroster is a broken blower unit, and you should replace this vital component before the first time that your windshield freezes overnight. Without an effectively operating defroster, every breath you take in your car while you're driving will create dangerous fog on your side of the windshield, so it's important to make sure that the little vents on your dash are pumping out plenty of hot air before the winter's first freeze.

4. Check Your Tire Pressure

You should check your tire pressure at least once per month, and this basic maintenance process becomes even more important in the winter. Cold temperatures cause the air pressure within your tires to drop, and underinflated tires wear out more quickly. In the worst case scenario, the winter cold could wear your tires out to the point that they burst, and picking durable all-season tires can protect you from this unfortunate possibility.

Again, if you want to take the worry out of vehicle repair bills during these colder months, purchase a warranty from True Auto and we will make sure you and your pockets stay warm this winter!

Here's Why Extended Auto Warranties Are Worth It

on

You're probably not thinking much about the distant future while you're buying a new car. After all, important purchases have a way of attracting all of your attention to the here and now, and the sights, sounds, and feelings associated with your new vehicle might be driving responsible thoughts out of your mind. You want to savor the feeling of sliding into your smoothly operating automobile for as long as possible, however, you should give a thought to the road ahead and consider the benefits of extended auto warranties.

Car Repairs Are Complicated

Extended auto warranties, which are also called service agreements or maintenance agreements, cover the cost to repair your car for an agreed-upon period. Even if you have the repair manual for your vehicle, the simplest automotive problems are often too complicated for a novice car owner. Plus, the average driver simply doesn't have time to mess around with amateur repair processes that may or may not produce the desired results. By investing in an extended auto warranty, you can cut right to the chase and get repairs done by qualified professionals. An extended auto warranty is also the best way to keep up with your maintenance schedule, which extends the life of your vehicle and increases its value.

Your Warranty Saves You Money

When it comes to performing maintenance on your new car, it's not a matter of "if" but "when." Proper maintenance is the best way to protect both your car's value and your safety on the road, and automobiles have so many moving parts that breakdowns are an inevitability. According to Kelly Blue Book, repairs and maintenance are two key factors of your car's 5-year cost to own, which is a metric that denotes the true cost of owning your car five years after the date of purchase. Examples of other factors that can drive up your 5-year cost to own include state fees, fuel, and insurance, but you can significantly mitigate these seemingly inevitable expenditures by bundling your maintenance and repair costs together with an extended auto warranty. While it may seem like your car will stay new forever, repair and maintenance costs are unavoidable, and you can keep yourself from racking up continued vehicle-related expenses by investing in an extended auto warranty.

Warranties Increase Your Car's Value

A car that's under warranty is easier to sell. Even if your car's extended warranty has expired, prospective buyers view previous warranty coverage as a guarantee that your vehicle was taken care of properly. Whenever you decide to sell your car, protecting it with an extended auto warranty will allow you to command a better price at the negotiating table. Whether you eventually decide to sell your car to a private buyer or trade it in for a newer model at the dealership, investing in an extended auto warranty now is the best way to ensure that your car will retain its value for years to come.
