Kelley Blue Book announces vehicles with best resale value

Kelley Blue Book recently announced its picks for the best vehicles that retain value, based on market studies, to further assist people who may be shopping for new vehicles.

The moment you drive a car off the lot of a dealership, it loses a large portion of its value. This is called depreciation and it is unavoidable, but some vehicles depreciate slower than others. The Jeep Wrangler has the best depreciation rate, and will still retain 68 percent of its value after 36 months, and after five years, the Wrangler can have a resale value of 55 percent of its original price.

"The Best Resale Value Awards combine the expertise of Kelley Blue Book's market analysts with our proud history of trusted accuracy in reporting vehicle values," said Paul Johnson, the president and publisher of Kelley Blue Book. "We hope that this information assists new-vehicle shoppers in making more informed decisions."

Another important piece of the puzzle when it comes to value retention and automobiles is the condition of the car. Everything from the outward appearance to the health of the engine can affect a vehicle's resale value. An extended warranty can be used to cover the cost of regular maintenance and necessary repairs to keep a car running its best so drivers can get the most money back when they trade in or sell their vehicles.
