Audi launches Driver’s Pledge initiative to improve road safety

Audi recently announced that it is beginning a nationwide initiative to encourage drivers to be smarter and more efficient on the road. The "Driver's Pledge" campaignis aiming to not only make the roads of America safer, but also to enhance the joy of driving, which is often dampened by traffic and unsafe driving habits.
"Drivers daily face an unintelligent road," said chief marketing officer of Audi of America Scott Keogh. "Audi recognizes these conditions and is on a mission to find solutions that not only assist our drivers, but also help improve daily driving conditions across the nation."
Drivers who take the pledge promise to slow down, rather than speed up, when they approach a yellow light. They also make promises to avoid using their phones and engaging in other distracting activities while behind the wheel. The U.S. Department of Transportation states that roughly 20 percent of all motor vehicle accidents in 2009 involved distracted driving.
The German automaker is offering incentives to inspire drivers to sign up to take the Pledge. Anyone who signs up is entered into a contest to win a trip for two to the Audi Sportscar Experience Challenge at the Audi Forum Sonoma in northern California.
Drivers can also improve their safety on the road with regular tuneups, and car warranties can cover the cost.
