Porsche will unveil new 911 Carrera Cabriolet in Detroit next week

The Porsche 911 is perhaps one of the most-loved sports cars, and new models are always highly anticipated. This year, the convertible version of the newest model, the 911 Carrera Cabriolet, is set to make its world debut in just a few days at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

"The U.S.A. is and remains an important market for Porsche with good growth prospects," said Bernhard Maier, a member of Porsche's AG Board of Management for Sales and Marketing. "Detroit was deliberately chosen for the world premiere of the new 911 Cabrio because the U.S.A. is far and away our largest 911 Cabrio market."

The new convertible will have a 350-horsepower flat-six engine, a standard seven-speed manual transmission and an acceleration time of zero to 60 in just 4.4 seconds, according to Car and Driver. The news source reports that the Carrera S will be moderately more powerful, with 400 horsepower, a slightly larger engine and a faster acceleration time.

The cars will be available for sale by next month, and drivers who want to make the investment might also want to protect it by purchasing an extended warranty. This way, they are covered if anything should need to be repaired.
