Madza recently announced that Chicago will be the platform for the launch of the latest special edition Mazda Miata MX-5. AutoBlog reports that Mazda first unveiled the Miata in 1989 in Chicago, and they've debuted several limited edition models in the Windy City since then, so it makes sense that they chose this location for the unveiling of the MX-5 Special Edition.
The Japanese automaker didn't get into details about the car's specs, but it will feature heated black leather seats, 17-inch black gunmetal wheels, Bluetooth integration and a black Power Retractable Hard Top. This is "the first time that a non-body-colored hard top is available in North America," according to the car company.
The U.S. market will only be receiving 450 models of the best-selling two-seat roadster in the world, so those who are lucky enough to own the limited edition model may want to invest in car warranties so their rides are protected. Drivers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual transmission with a short-throw shifter and a six-speed Sport automatic with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
