New 2012 Honda CR-V costs as much as 2011 model, has more features

Honda redesigned the CR-V crossover for the 2012 model year, and the car hit the market on Fridaywith a starting price that is practically the same as the 2011 version. The cost may be the same, but the cars are certainly not. The new CR-V has more standard features and technology than last year's model, but the average price increase across all offered trims was only about $181. It even has modest two mile-per-gallon increase in fuel efficiency.

"For 2012, we've made critical upgrades to virtually every aspect of CR-V's winning formula," said John Mendel, American Honda Motor Company's executive vice president of sales. "The CR-V represents an excellent value for customers with pricing remaining relatively unchanged compared to the outgoing model despite the addition of numerous new features, improved fuel economy and enhanced utility."

The new CR-V features BlueTooth technology – standard on all models – and there is even a built-in function that allows drivers to integrates their phones to the cars. This enables drivers to hear text messages aloud so they will be less tempted to take their eyes off the road.

Distracted driving is responsible for approximately 20 percent of accidents, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Should drivers get into an accident, an extended warranty can cover the cost of repairs.
