Subaru recalls new Impreza, Legacy and Outback units for minor brake issue
Subaru recently announced a voluntary safety recall for 2012 Impreza Legacy and Outback units produced between October and November. The
cars went on sale fairly recently, and a number of customers lodged complaints that they had to press the brakes farther than normal.
"Some customers said the brakes didn't feel right," Subaru of America spokesman Michael McHale told AutoWeek. "The pedal travels farther than it should. There were no failure issues, no accidents."
The automaker stated that this issue does not affect the functionality of the vehicles, but that they will replace the brake master cylinder in all affected models to correct the issue. CarBuzz.com reports that Subaru also issued a stop-sale order for all three models on November 25. The company will also notify the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which oversees automotive recalls.
For the most part, when drivers encounter automotive issues that require repairs or replacements, there will not be a recall. This is when an extended warranty can come in handy, as it will cover the cost of the mechanic work.
