Hyundai tops the list of Fewest and Cheapest repairs

2015 CarMD vehicle Health IndexHyundai comes in at number one for the best combined score of having the fewest and cheapest repairs.

CarMD, a car repair company, released its 2015 CarMD® Vehicle Health Index™Manufacturer & Vehicle Reliability Rankings.


Finishing right behind Hyuandi, in second place was Toyota. Last year's winner, Honda came in third, followed by Ford in the number four spot.  Rounding out the top ten are Chrysler, Kia, General Motors, Mazda, Nissan and number 10, Volkswagen.

"Top 10 vehicle manufacturers based on model year 1996-2015 vehicles needing repairs between Oct. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015, and determined by the manufacturers whose vehicles had the fewest percentage of CarMD repair incidents combined with the lowest cost per repair, per number of registered vehicles on the road." The 2015 Toyota Corolla ranks number one on the list of top 10 vehicles of 2015. Ranked number two on the list is the 2013 Lexus ES. In third place is the 2014 Toyota Prius. Bring up the rear, in the number 10 spot is the 2014 Kia Optima.

Average repair costs by vehicle make:

  • Ford had the lowest average repair cost among the top 10-ranked manufacturers ($309).
  • The manufacturer with the highest overall repair cost was Nissan ($430). Source:CarMD

"Car maintenance and repairs are a fact of life, but this data can be used in tandem with other tools and information to help car shoppers make informed decisions," CarMD CEO Ioen Chen says of the rankings.
