New survey reveals what consumers want from in-car technology

A new survey conducted by Harman, a leading auto technology supplier, found that drivers want their infotainment and other in-car technology to help them be more productive and safer on the road. One of the main concerns drivers have is that they have difficulty integrating and using all of their devices.
"Drivers are saying the want technology to be intuitive and easy to manage," said Sachin Lawande, the executive vice president and chief technical officer of lifestyle and infotainment at Harman. "People already use technology in their cars, but the experience is not optimal because so many thing – from GPS to Bluetooth calls – are still managed separately. This survey tells us that vehicle technology needs to keep improving to make managing busy lives easier."
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that approximately 20 percent of car accidents are caused by distracted driving, which is likely why nearly all the survey respondents (98 percent) said that safety is the primary concern when it comes to technology on the go.
However, should a driver get into a car accident, even if they're not the one who was distracted, an automobile extended warranty can cover the cost of the repairs so they can save money for the next big piece of automotive technology.
